Lawrie Philpott

Philpott has been an organisation and HR specialist since the early 1970’s. He was Head of Management Services at the Greater London Council; and a Partner in PwC UK where he led the firm’s largest division – the Human Resources Advisory Group. Lawrie founded Philpott Black in 1996 and has coached Board and executive leaders for over twenty years. He is a qualified mediator and has chaired the Boards of a number of private and public sector organizations. He taught the organisation and HR components of a Strathclyde University MBA at St Gallen Switzerland; and has contributed to the ESCP Masters Programme at this, the oldest business school in the world. Marvin Zonis

Zonis taught courses on leadership for over thirty years at the Booth School of Business at The University of Chicago where he is now Professor Emeritus. Among his thousands of students was Satya Nadella, now CEO of Microsoft. In an interview Nadella was asked, “Was there a Booth class that was particularly memorable?” He replied, “It was a class that I took with Marvin Zonis on leadership. He stressed that EQ trumps IQ in the long run – the E is for empathy.” Zonis is the author of Majestic Failure: The Fall of the Shah, a study of leadership failure.
